This beautiful original vintage poster showcases an illustration of Vincent Van Gogh's "A Farmhouse in Provence," also known as "Entrance Gate to a Farm with Haystacks," originally painted in 1888 in Oil on Canvas during his prolific period in Arles, Provence. This incredibly rare poster is from The Stedelijk Museum, colloquially known as the Stedelijk, which is a museum for modern art, contemporary art, and design located in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Van Gogh's drawings, numbering over 1,100, are lesser-known yet equally remarkable compared to his paintings. He believed drawing was foundational to his art, considering it "the root of everything." These drawings allowed him to master black and white before delving into color, shaping his development as a painter. However more often than not, he reversed the process by making drawings after his paintings to give his brother and his friends an idea of his latest work.
